In a stunning oh-my-God-I-can’t-bleieve-this-isn’t-an-Onion-story level of hypocrisy, the Obama Administraion has filed a complaint against the Chinese government for subsidizing their auto industry.
That’s right, the guy who approved the auto bailouts and consistently touts those bailouts on the campaign trail has the audacity to sue another government for subsidizing their own auto industry. That is the audacity of hope; hope that no one will notice his hypocrisy, that is.
The US Trade Representative announced the new action, accusing Beijing of at least $1 billion in illegal subsidies to automotive exporters between 2009 and 2011.
The US auto industry bailout, for comparison, is expected to cost the U.S. government $25.1 billion.
