Drinking beer is good for you and your children, a study by Japan’s oldest brewery says.
Hops, one of the three basic ingredients of beer along with water and barley, contains a chemical compound called humulone, which can help the human body fight the virus that causes the common cold in adults, according to a report by the news agency Agence-France Presse. The same virus also can cause bronchitis and pneumonia in children. Today is the 79th anniversary of the repeal of alcohol Prohibition. On this day I give you, not only the beautiful image above, but also this list, via the Economic Freedom blog, of items that the government still prohibits. I would probably add Buckyballs to the list.

Want to be better at solving puzzles? Have a couple of beers first.

Beer makes men smarter.

So say researchers at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

They found that men with a couple of beers under their belts were actually better at solving brain-teasers than their sobre counterparts.

Presdential Candidate Gary Johnson wants to lower the drinking age

Johnson:

“I’m always the guy to advocate for lower ages. I just believe that the lower the age the better you come to grips with what these substances are,” the Libertarian Party presidential candidate said.

“If you can go to Iraq and die, or Afghanistan and die as a service man or women at 18, and you can’t drink — I’m sorry I don’t buy into that.”

“Hypothetically no, there shouldn’t be [a drinking age],” Johnson said, “but the lower the age the better.”

For those who don’t know, the reason that the drinking age is 21 is because the federal government has bribed the states. Those states that had a lower drinking age were denied transportation fundung until they raised the legal drinking age to 21.
